January 11, 2015 Lorraine’s report
Hello and thanks for stopping by. We are still here in Palm Springs, and from when we were here before Christmas and now, the spaces that empty are rare, few and far between. This park is pretty full, and everyone is enjoying the nice, sunny weather we have been having.
So Monday Chuck took me and my earring that I lost over to the Westfield Mall here in Palm Springs. They have a place where you can take it and tell you what needs to be done. And you can watch it being worked on. Well, my earring did not need a new setting like I thought. It needed just a straightening out and a new backing to make it “brand new”. Now I have never paid for a backing for putting on the earring, but they charged me for one. Usually when I need a new backing, they just give me one, and that is from all over the US. But the guy that took it charged me for a new one. It was over $15.00 plus tax. But, I was happy to pay it. Guess that’s how it goes.
When we get back home, I think I will take it into Bayside Jewelry Store and have them put on the kind of screws that need to be screwed on. It was hard to be without my earrings. Even though I have other earrings, I love my diamonds, they complete me… And hopefully, that would make it pretty hard to loose again.
So Chuck has had a cold or something, not sure what, but he has not felt well for over a week and a half. For him to start taking medicine without being told to made me wonder how ill he was. But, finally he is starting to feel a bit better. Wednesday I made him Chicken Noodle soup. After that, he started to feel better. For him to get ill is so rare, usually he doesn’t get ill. But now with all the stuff he has going on with his health, maybe he should get the flu shot. Who knows, the one time he got the flu shot, he got really ill. And he didn’t like being ill. But now he is on the mend, Thank God!
We leave here on Wednesday, headed over to Quartzsite, AZ. This year we will be staying at the Rice Ranch instead of dry camping. It should be interesting as a bunch of our friends will be staying at the Rice Ranch with us. while others will be dry camping.
So I would like to wish everyone a good week. We enjoyed all the nice weather we have had. Until next time. Hugs to all…
Lorraine
1/11/15 Chuck’s report
Last Sunday we watched football and later joined with our Lewis and Clark folks for another get together. While we were there who should walk up but our friends Mike and Linda, we’ve been camping with them and RV America group in Quartzsite for the past 7 years. They were introduced to the L & C crowd, hung around and visited for awhile then headed back to their rig. Once again I remarked that it truly is a small world, we see friends and folks we know almost everywhere we go, that helps make this lifestyle even better.
Monday we headed out to find a jewelry repair place to fix Lorraine’s earring. Turned out they were able to straighten the stud, it didn’t have to be replaced after all. So Lorraine can now wear her earrings, she said she feels naked without them as she’s been wearing them for so many years.
Tuesday we headed out to Wal-Mart and later headed over to Del Taco for Taco Tuesday, the have three tacos for $1.09 and that includes a free soft drink, not bad.
Wednesday we had planned to drove to Hemet to meet with our friends Joe and Alice but I’ve been feeling under the weather, fighting the flu, so we called and cancelled our visit. Or at least postponed as I hope to start feeling better and maybe see them before we leave this Wednesday.
We just stayed home except for a quick trip to the store to get some more medicine for me and Lorraine got the fixings so she could make chicken soup. I must admit, I think the chicken soup helps, just like everyone’s mother has always said.
Thursday we tried to go to the casino for senior day and their buffet. I was too tired to make a day of it but we did manage to have a good buffet before we came back. I actually fell asleep in my chair later, I don’t do that very often since I’ve been using my CPAP machine at night.
Friday we drove over to the FMCA rally in Indio. We walked through the vendor section and commented that their number’s seem to be down from past years, even the crowd seem to be less. With the lower gas prices, I figured there would be more folks traveling South this year, maybe so but they weren’t at the rally.
We also toured the new coach area for awhile, even checked out a few too. But once again we decided ours is just fine and we don’t need to replace it with a new, more expensive one. Of course the new ones have lots of nice things included that we might like but we can always add things to ours. In fact, we have made quite a few modification to ours over the years, some of which are now included on the new ones.
We got a call from our friend Dorothy who asked if we would be interested in joining them at the Elks Lodge in Desert Hot Springs. We said yes and agreed to meet there at 5:30 for dinner. But first I rested (or should I say fell asleep) in my chair before driving over.
We had a great visit with Tom, Dorothy, her sister Mary and friend Anna. Only issue is they ran out of prime rib for dinner so they had to order from the menu but said they had a good dinner. We headed back to our place and asked if we could give Anna a ride home as she lives just a few blocks away from where we are staying. All in all, we had a good but busy day.
Saturday morning we headed over to the street fair at College of the Desert to see if the vendor who sold us Lorraine’s new mirror was there this week. When she opened the package on Christmas, she found the frame on the mirror was busted and we tried to return it last week but the vendor wasn’t there, turned out the owner had fallen and broke his shoulder, OW. But we were able to exchange it for a new one and this one isn’t broken, yea.
Tom, Dorothy and Mary came by the coach for a visit, Lorraine has stopped by and picked up some snacks as she thought they might come by. Once again we had a good visit with these fine folks, glad to be able to spend more time with them.
We watched the NFL Divisional Playoff games, the first game was going on while they were here. My prediction at the start of the season was for Seattle to meet New England in the Super Bowl and both teams won so it could still happen. Of course, I also picked Seattle to win the Super Bowl as I told our friends Brian and Sue from Massachusetts this morning.
Boy are there lots of folks on the Seattle bandwagon around here, lots of folks outside watching TV’s and having parties. We were invited to Bill and Susan’s place along with some other Lewis and Clark folks but decided to stay home and watch it in the comfort of our own rig and I could turn it up enough to hear. But we did walk down to say HI to the group before coming back to watch the rest of the game.
The weather has been really nice this past week, getting to the upper 60s and even into the upper 70s once. And it isn’t getting too cold at night either. We see lots of folks wearing shorts and tee shirts, that’s a good thing in early January. But it just started raining as I’m writing this, just enough to get the road wet but real rain, for this area anyway.
Our travel plans have us leaving here and heading to Quartzsite on Wednesday. We’ve been there for a few years and always boon docked or dry camped in the desert. This year we made reservations with some other folks from RV America to stay at a RV park, we’ll see how that works out. Some of the folks from our group will still be dry camping so I’m sure we will stop by to see them a couple of times. And some of our fellow Tiffin owners are going to be dry camping too, even though it isn’t a planned activity this year. So we’ll probably drive over to meet with them too.
I’ll add some pictures now and get this posted.
Some pictures from our Lewis and Clark 3:00 meet.
Thanks Chuck
